The tikibar is a collection of memories.
Most of them involve drinks or beverages. Cocktails. A glass of wine. A single malt. Even butterbeer inspired by Harry Potter.
It is about education. About what is out there to consume in liquid form. As we all know, there are plenty of options.
The tikibar is about sharing experiences, initially from my point of view. What was in the drink. Where it was had. Who it was shared with. And what that moment felt like.
Sometimes I look back and think, I wish I knew this earlier. To engage differently. To explore different types of drinks. To understand the experiences that come from them. And yes, even the ones to avoid. Haha.
It Is Not About Drinking
This is not education about drinking alcohol.
It is about educating oneself. About making decisions based on experience. About sharing a drink with somebody. Or simply having a moment by yourself.
Often, I have found myself in situations where you consume just for the sake of consuming. Thinking the night will get better. Thinking the environment might become more fun.
Often, that is not the case.
We romanticise times with friends where we shared plenty of drinks in the garage. But when we look back, it was not the drinks that made those moments memorable. It was the laughs.
I am laughing to myself right now thinking about some of those moments.
And long may we create more moments with our good friends, and new people we meet along the way.
What Do I Feel Like Today?
Sometimes it is about asking yourself:
What do I feel like today?
Is it a drink to start a holiday at the airport?
Is it a beverage to finish off a tough week?
Is it that routine hot drink each morning that signifies your own time before the day begins?
The tikibar is about sharing moments, in accompaniment of a vessel that you think is “the good stuff.”
It is about the memory attached to the glass. The conversation attached to the pour. The quiet attached to the cup.
That is what The tikibar is about.
